Right now, membership is 100% free. We want to grow a strong, connected community first. Paid membership tiers with gear discounts, special events, and merch may launch down the road, and early members will get priority perks. What we ask for today is support: follow the socials, engage with the posts, meet new riders, and show up to the rides.
Active community members that pour support and show their face. If that isn't you, please don't submit the form. Come the first time and be shy, and the second time feel like you know everyone for years. Everyone is welcome, and yes, the little kids too.
Yes. For safety and consistency, every rider brings a 4x4 ATV or SXS with proper off-road tires, working lights and brakes, and tow/recovery points. South Florida terrain means mud, deep ruts, sugar sand, and water crossings, and anything not built for off-roading becomes unsafe and slows the group down. No dirt bikes, Jeeps, motorcycles, or street quads. No machine yet? You will need your own 4x4 ATV or SXS before your first ride. We do not rent machines.
Extreme, rough Everglades terrain: thick muddy trails, water trails, rocky dirt paths, sugar sand flats, woods, and hidden local spots shared within the community. Along the way you'll see gators and crocs, snakes, and wild bird species. Our goal is fun, safe, scenic exploration, never reckless riding or destroying land.
Our rides rotate across the west side of South Florida: Miami, Homestead, Hialeah, Kendall, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Davie, Weston, Plantation, Doral, and Palm Beach. 99% of the time we ride on our native South Florida lands. We also link up for trips to parks like Plant Bamboo, Lazy Springs, and RYC, with details shared in the private WhatsApp group.
Yes, as long as you bring a proper 4x4 machine. Every ride includes a safety briefing, a lead and sweep rider, clear pace control, help for stuck riders, recovery support, and mid-ride breaks. We don't leave anyone behind. Ever.
Absolutely. Families, kids, teens, and couples are all welcome. Many meetups include slower-paced routes, photo stops, and chill hangout time to get to know members of the community.
Minimum recommended: DOT-approved helmet (strongly recommended), goggles or visor, boots or ankle-supportive shoes, long sleeves and pants. Bring along: an operating winch cable, tow strap, first aid kit, bug spray, extra fuel, and water and snacks. Whip lights are optional but helpful at night. Safety always comes first.
Our code is simple: no rider gets left behind. Respect riders and property. No reckless behavior. No littering, dumping, or destroying habitats. Listen to the ride leader. Help others when stuck. Every rider signs a ride-responsibly agreement with a zero-tolerance policy. Our rules are what keep the group safe and the trails open.
We help you out. That's what a real community does. Members assist with towing, winching, pull-outs, mechanical help, and transporting you back to staging if needed.
Most rides run 4 to 8 or more hours, depending on the route, group size, and weather. We take breaks, regroup often, and never rush beginners. Longer rides can include fuel stops, photo spots, scenic areas, and a group BBQ. Start times vary: early morning (around 8AM) to beat the heat, late afternoon (around 5PM) for sunset rides, and night rides (around 9PM) for advanced riders only. Exact times are posted on each event flyer.
Yes. Conservation is huge for us. We organize trail cleanups, Trash Bag Challenge rides, volunteer days, and environmental awareness initiatives. We've already removed 230+ bags of trash from riding areas, and counting.
Absolutely. We work with landowners, off-road shops, local businesses, event partners, and sponsors. Our big goal is securing land for a dedicated, community-owned off-road park. If you want in on that mission, reach out through the contact form below.
Private community rides are announced in our WhatsApp community group. Just fill the free rider form to get in. Public events go out on Instagram at @southfloridatrails. Approved members get first access to ride details, new spot announcements, events, and special perks.

No. ATVs and side-by-sides are not street legal in Florida. Riding on public roads can get you ticketed. Trailer your machine to the trail or staging area.
Big Cypress National Preserve, about 90 minutes west of Miami, with over 400 miles of designated ORV trails. You need a three-step NPS permit: a free operator permit, a free vehicle inspection sticker, and an annual vehicle permit. See our legal riding guide for details.
No. All three steps are required: the operator permit, the inspection sticker, and the annual vehicle permit. Permits are issued Friday through Monday at the Nathaniel P. Reed Visitor Center in Ochopee. Riding without one risks fines.
You need true 4x4 for our group rides. South Florida terrain is mud, water crossings, and sugar sand, and 2WD machines get stuck fast and slow the whole group down.
Aggressive mud tires with deep, widely spaced lugs that self-clean as they spin. Stock all-terrains pack full of clay and turn into slicks. See our mud tire guide for the full breakdown.
Yes. We are family-friendly, and many rides include slower routes and photo stops. Kids ride as passengers with a parent or on their own machine where appropriate, with helmets on everyone.
We ride rain or shine in most cases. Afternoon storms are a lifestyle here. Only severe weather like lightning storms or tropical systems cancel a ride, and cancellations go out in the WhatsApp announcements.
Fill out the rider form first so we know who you are. Once vetted, you are welcome to come meet the crew. Come shy the first time, feel like family the second.
No, we do not rent machines. Every rider brings their own trail-ready 4x4 ATV or SxS. Get your machine sorted first, then come ride with us.
